Stampin' Up

Simple 3D Window Card

After making a couple of simple cards using the Welcoming Window Stamp Set and Die bundle, I wanted to take a closer look at the dies. I’m so glad I did as this set makes the most stunning creations with very little stamping!

The shutters dies emboss and cut in one pass, leaving the wood grain effect on your card at the same time as it trims. Add in the brackets and you’ve a pair of ornate cottage windows in two passes through your die cutting machine.

Adding a few dimensionals brings this to life, the flowerpots and window dressings really pop out. I love how this card feels like it could be a real window into a card (maybe I’ll try that next!).

I added a hint of daffodil delight to the flowers with a blend, and then used Wink of Stella to add a bit of sheen to the windows and plant pots.

I’m really pleased with how this turned out. It was very simple to make and construct, but looks fabulous!

In amongst the dies are a jug, various plant pots and matching flower dies, which could be userd to easily create a full cottage garden. Add in a small cat or dog, welly boots and you could be anywhere in the countryside.

I think this is the perfect set for spring birthday cards and know I will be using it for years to come!

Stampin' Up

Welcoming Window – 1 design, 2 cards

The Welcoming Window stamp set is so simple to use, it took about 3 seconds to work out what I wanted to create for my first card. I love the feel of the old fashioned window, it gives this set a real country cottage feel, Cotswold stone and chocolate box gardens – I could almost smell the flowers!

My first card uses a simple stamping technique, to mute the colours (i.e. not make them as strong) I first ‘stamped off’ the inked stamp on a piece of scrap paper before stamping on my card. This lightens the colour of the bricks.

Welcoming Window Simple Card

By using just 5 colours it keeps the card feeling fresh and clean, a perfect card for a Spring Birthday. I used Pool Party for the base and shutters, Gray Granite for the bricks and window frame, Crumb Cake for the plant pot, Mossy Meadow for the plant and then used Rococo Rose as my highlight colour for the flowers and sentiment.

Not only is the Welcoming Window Stamp Set easy to design with, being a photopolymer stamp means it is clear, so you can line up the matching parts easily.

But that’s not all all – it comes with matching dies so you can take your simple card and step it up!
Welcoming Window card with die cuts
Here I’ve created a card in the same design but die cut the flowers and shutters to add depth, and added a few pearl embellishments. It takes a very simple design to the next level.

There are other dies in this set including different style of windows and shutters, pots and vases, and more.
